Done

Everything is now finished. We spent a lot of time last night and early this afternoon making sure we did all last minutes checks. Even the glue is cooperating! The bad thing is it's raining and very windy right now. We meet up with John and Lisa at Washington St. at 9 AM...about 9 hours from now. Everything is waiting in our building to be picked up except my laptop...and we have it covered. JUST IN CASE...we put our photostory on 2 or 3 flash drives on the odd chance I would leave the laptop behind. I heard the narration this afternoon over different speakers and saw the pictures full screen. It made a big difference. So much time has gone into all of the training and the project...I know others feel the same way. See youse and y'alls at noon!

LATI intranet

I got onto the website after work this evening and looked at the sneak peeks. I can't wait to see the others projects! Being childrens services, there's bound to be a few I would be more interested in but FAIR WARNING...I'm getting a brochure from ALL of them!

Less than 48 Hours Away

As soon as I typed that heading, I thought OMG it's true..and the display board is DONE! Lisa M is coming down tomorrow to check out all of our work and we'll do a quick run through the Photostory to make sure the speakers work. This has been a lot of fun. I did wonder if Sherry opened the door to the meeting room while using the spray adhesive. (Sherry...can says in big letters DANGER.)Finished brochures will be here tomorrow...thank you Renee.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Can you hear us screamin'? I was so ready to take this computer and printer and kick their behinds right out the door to Main St. and let the coal trucks run over them. Good thing I called Jason our workstation genius when I did. (Even though he told me go ahead and do it but I won't tell on him.) Sherry went to get the rest of our supplies while I was trying to print color pictures off to use on our display board. I KNOW the ink cartdridges were good...they were brand new ones just put in. The printer kept coming up with black and white pictures. Another lesson learned today...click on file->click on print->click on properties->click on the color tab and see if that daggone gray thing is check marked. It was. UNCHECK it. When you go to print other pictures, repeat these steps for each and every one. Talk about wasting time! Sherry's on her own tomorrow since it's my day off so she'll be busy. 6 more days to go!

Display Board

Friday is the day we will get BUSY. I'm gathering the rest of the supplies tomorrow but I'm not in the building until Friday. Sharon our sub will come in again and Sherry and I won't leave the workroom until we're at least 75% done. With all the programs and meetings going on next week time is short. But Sherry and I do work well under pressure. Of course it's pressure we put on ourselves. Or maybe it's panic. So much has already been accomplished that we should feel good about it. I was looking at the pictures of Pam and Nora...the first of Allegany staff to complete LATI back in November. They looked like they were enjoying themselves at the Showcase. I know their project was great. As a matter of fact, all of the projects I looked at looked great.

Busy

It's getting down to the wire now...as 'they" say. The major work of the display board is our focus now. We've come up with so many ideas that I'm wondering if everything we want to use will even fit on the board. I'm leaving my learning notebook until the weekend. My binder is in awful shape so I need to replace it. The inside is pretty neat but I found some papers I forgot to put in it. One thing that I've learned from LATI is how to be more organized. I hope it lasts. We're getting lots of support from Lisa M (my super supervisor) and our director, John Taube. I AM nervous but that's natural for me. I know I've harped quite a bit about the non-closing of my building and how it's affected our project. We've had to rearrange what we planned to do and now what we're actually doing but I think it'll work out fine in the end. You know what's really scaring me? I can't talk in front of a group of adults. I have no problem with groups of kids but when it's having to stand up in front of adults, my tongue wants to fall out of my mouth. Honest. Well here I go off on another tangent. I'm looking forward to the telebridge conference tomorrow.

Brochure

We've finished our brochure with LOTS of help from Renee, who is such a genius at what she does! It looks great! We've had to make 3 or 4 changes to it in the past few days but I think it's a go now. Someone (Sherry) said that everybody has some kind of artistic talent. I think she's wrong. Or maybe mine just hasn't developed yet. I did learn how to hold still while taking pictures, though. I love this digital camera.

Moving right along

We've been working on our project for the past two days. Our supervisor, Lisa M., was here yesterday looking over journals, listening to our ideas, taking pictures, and helping us out with Photo Story. This project has been so full of obstacles but we've met every challenge and never lost our sense of humor. We put LATI aside for a few days and focused on weeding, boxing up, pitching and tossing. We thought we would be closed and could spend time at another branch every week to do our LATI assignments. When we found out the closing date had been moved again, we turned it around to quit weeding and focus on LATI. Long story short: I can't wait until we close so I can take some time off and hit my evil chair!

Weaving in Loose Ends

While finalizing our draft for our "Brochure" we have been trying to make sure that there are no loose ends on our assignments. So we are crossing our t's here and dotting our i's there. Getting all of our "tagged" project items together is proving to be a little more difficult than expected but still under deadline, and that is very good news!

28 Days and Counting Down

It’s February the 14th and we have just received the “It’s Thursday” e-mail and time seems to go so quickly! From the very start of our project we knew that it would be dependent upon Westernport’s closing date. Due to circumstances beyond our Administration’s control the closing date is in a constant fluid state. Nancy and I have even changed our project from “Westernport’s Renovation” to “Renovation Preparation” to stay symbiotic with the closing date. We are gathering our files, hastily written notes, rough draft word documents, photos and all other little extras that we have “tagged” for our project. Although a little nervous we are both looking forward to starting and finally completing this project.
